Downlands Packaging have recently completed a packaging solution for SME Limited, a customer that produces precise engineered metal components, which they needed to ship to the Czech Republic.
Previously, the customer was individually wrapping & boxing these components – which was both time consuming & proving to be expensive on labour time & packaging materials. The components were also being returned as rejects, due to receiving damage during transit.
Downlands’ task was to develop a cost effective pack, which could accommodate a certain quantity of components and that would perform effectively in transit to eliminate rejects.
Using polyethylene foam, we developed inserts to hold multi-items, & also built up in layers, keeping each component separate from each other, & housed them in a outer carton manufactured from our stock export card.
The pack has since proved a success, eliminating transit damage – and massive savings for the client on returns, packaging materials and labour costs.
